or in fear of committing to something?
These are common physiological indicators that you may have an imbalance in your Kidney Meridian. Some other common characteristics are feeling scattered and being dependent on the opinion of others.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupoints can be found along a meridian line. If we think of meridian lines like the electrical wiring in a house, these are where the points live. There are 14 meridian systems and they each have their main purpose and function. There are also primary muscles that it affects and specific posture imbalances related to each meridian. Specific emotional conflicts may be related to each meridian line. As you can see, meridians can play an integral role in our health and well-being from a physical and physiological perspective.
A Kidney Meridian imbalance will also show up in your posture, as it has an effect on your muscles. The muscles specific to the Kidney Meridian are:
Upper trapezius muscle- which allows you to shrug your shoulders and provides stability to your head
Psoas muscle- allows for rotation of the hips
Iliacus muscle-functions to allow for lifting/flexing the leg forward. It is also integral for lifting the trunk of the body from a lying position (sit-ups).
As a result of these imbalances, it can negatively affect our posture. The primary postural indicators of an imbalanced Kidney meridian are the head held forward and the curve in the lower back is reduced or flattened.
There are three powerful points to bring the Kidney meridian back in to balance.
They are: Ki27 (located just below the collar bone)
Ki 1 bottom of the foot at the top of the ball
Bl13 – located about 2 inches off the spine at the same height as Thoracic verbrae 3 (T3)
Stimulate these points every other day for a course of two weeks, then re-evaluate. To address the physiological component of this imbalance, here’s a technique that I like to use. As I stimulate the acupoints with photonic light therapy, I repeat these statements to help release the negative aspect of the issue and replace it with the positive belief.
I am confident in my decisions.
I am well-organized in my thoughts and in my life
I am informed and educated at the precise right time.
Be sure to repeat these statements each time these specific points are stimulated.
